Trivia:
Burtonwood service station is built on an old airfield that had 18,000
stationed there at one time in the Second World War, it was the largest
military base in Europe.
"East Road" writes:Once an award winning service area, Burtonwood must be one of the most unloved areas by both its operating company and its users. Visit it today and you will find half of it boarded up toilets with half painted doors and plaster crumbling off the walls. The only good thing about Burtonwood is that you can get off the motorway here and have Sweedish meatballs in IKEA !!
Rumours that the westbound side has been sold off to M&S and the eastbound side will see further development.
There is a dedicated website for former staff of Burtonwood, at www.burtonwoodservices.co.nr
They are looking to arrange a reunion, and the site has several pictures of Burtonwood.

This is a very old site, and we used to have a voting/comment system here, but for now it is turned off, sorry. Please also note the comments above are very old too and won't necessarily reflect the current state of the site and reflect the opinion of a visitor to the website, not the view of the website operator.
