The newest Motorway Service station (!)
Is a one site services, eg. traffic heading in both directions uses the
same building, and it would be possible to do a u-turn and head back the
other way if you wanted. You'll still pay a toll though!
Has a conference centre, and a fantastic water feature outside.
Offers table service after 6pm, almost a return to the early days of Service
areas when Waitress service was the norm.
Dining takes place in a large open plan and airy seating area, after you
have chosen what you wish to eat. The On Route Restaurant will cook your
food in front of you. Costa was having difficulty with new staff when
I visited, causing a bit of a delay whilst they tried to train up new
staff, and serving slopped coffee- although this was after 3 attempts-
they couldn't master the nack of getting the coffee out of the machine
without it going everywhere, so in the end gave up and appologised.
It was surprisingly busy- many people wonder why you would pay to go on
the toll to save time then stop, but for some, that extra time means more
time spent having a break, and its one of the nicest places to stop. However,
the lavatories, despite the full time attendant looked like they had seen
3 years traffic, not 6 months.
Ross Bowman for these nicer pictures

I hate all Roadchefs, but this has go to one of my favourite MSAs. Fountains, clean toilets, tastey food... 09/04/2005 20:35:40 It is now called Truckhaven. Instead of the usual overpriced fast food outlets, you get quality honest food and low prices. A wee gem! Take notes MSAs 14/06/2005 20:52:40 Really fresh and clean. Restaurant is echoey and lacks personality. great for kids though they love the water feature! 09/09/2005 19:49:14 Brilliantly sited just a mile before the westbound toll plaza- so handy for gettting change or cash. A nice open, airy building too, not cramped and crowded like many service stations. 01/11/2005 17:42:25 RoadChef need a gold star. My wife wont stop at anything other than a RoadChef. This one is utterly F.A.B. 08/11/2005 11:23:08 Was about to purchase a sandwich and portion of chips for just £3, but a friendly attendant pointed out a special deal that would let me get it for £1.99, very impressed! 23/01/2006 17:51:52 Excellent standards of food and cleanliness for a MSA 01/02/2006 11:42:32 Not sure about the low prices comments - stopped off there last weekend and two sandwiches plus one bottle of water was £9.50! 07/03/2006 12:58:05 Stopped there a few days ago, costa coffe was the best i have been to, It was busy but the staff was really good at moving the Que. 24/03/2006 01:08:13 Fair (though still not good) area for dog exercise. Although there are 6 million of them in the country, sadly neglegted by most MSA planners. 19/06/2006 11:44:40 Very clean and friendly the best service station I have ever stopped at always use it now when travelling on M6 19/06/2006 20:15:33 It is always heaving when I go and you have to fight through hoards of people to get to the toilets. If you are sitting at the tables you have a stream of people going from the sid eentrance to the toilets. Must be nice when not so busy though. 01/08/2006 21:20:22 Wonderful Place 05/01/2007 10:54:40 the best service station in the UK and i like the water feature too, nice! 09/04/2007 08:44:51 the best MSA in the UK 16/10/2007 14:49:59 Very Light 20/04/2008 01:30:08 I now avoid this MSA like the plague. It always seems busy with coaches and consequently queuing for up to 30 minutes for something to eat is not unusual in my experience. 27/04/2008 11:02:28
